The First NTUVSA Football Champion League was held by Vietnamese Student Association in National Taiwan University (NTUVSA) in the football field at National Taiwan University on June 6th. Four teams were participated in the Champion League from five universities, including National Taiwan University (NTU), National Taiwan University of Science Technology (NTUST), National Taipei University (NTUT), National Central University (NCU) and Yuan Ze University (YZU). One team was combined by players from NCU and YZU. Totally there were about 80 people joined this event, including organizers, players, invited guests, referees, volunteers and fans. Organizers especially cared about safety, health of players by hiring four semiprofessional referees from Taipei Futsal Association and providing drinks, etc. With the sponsorship from Vietnam Airlines, Office of International Affair, Department of Civil Engineering, Mekong Tour Company and MingJin Restaurant, the event was well-prepared and successful. Preparation for the first NTUVSA football Champion League was started to 8:00 AM on July 6th. Twenty five members of NTUVSA completed many works for the preparation, such as transporting; decorating a main stage; drawing two football fields, setting up instruments, boots, etc. The works were finished at 12:00 PM on the same day.
Exactly, as schedule, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung – the president of Vietnamese Student Association in NTU and Taiwan made a statement of the opening ceremony of the First NTUVSA Football Champion League at 1:00 PM with attending of the guest, four teams and fans. After the succinct opening, the four teams entered the first game of a circle tournament at 1:30 PM with NTU vs. NTUT and NTUST vs. YZU-NCU. It was a very hot day so it becomes an hard challenge for all players. However, all of athletes were still able to show beautiful passing. The first two games were closed with a score “NTU: 0-0: NTUT” and “NTUST: 2 - 1: YZU-NCU”. After 45 minutes relax, the second two games stated at 3:15 PM with NTU vs. NTUST and NTUT vs. YZU-NCU. On the fields, the atmosphere seemed to be even hotter due to the cheers from fans. All of four teams were determined to get the first position. Because both of NTUT and YZU-NCU played in defense, the match was kept balance. As a result, the score “NTUT: 0 - 0: YZU-NCU” was not surprised. On the next field, the match of “NTU vs. NTUST” carried most fan’s attention. In the first half, both of two teams had some dangerous circumstances in the front of two goals. At beginning of the second half, NTUST suddenly had a score due to a regret mistake of NTU’s goalkeeper. After the loss goal, NTU tried to encircle NTUST’s goal that pressed NTUST in passive condition. Many opportunities were missed by NTU players. The score was not changed at “NTU: 0-1: NTUST”. The weather was cooler when four teams entered the last round; however, some players had been really tired due to the previous games. That may cause unexpected results NTUST beat NTUT with score 3:0, and NTU drew against YZU-NCU with score 0:0. The tournament was close with results: NTUST- the first position, YZU-NCU - the second position, NTU- the third position, NTUT- the fourth position, Mr. Binh (NTUST) and Mr. Khoa (NTUST) co-man of matches. Moreover, one yellow card and no red card were used to fine players, and no serious injury happened. The closing ceremony was taken place at 6:30 PM. Mr. Bui Trong-Van the head of Vietnam Economic and Culture Office in Taipei attended and combined with Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung to gave awards to four teams and players.
The First NTUVSA Football Champion League was organized successfully and safely by NTUVSA, which promotes a healthy lifestyle and encourages interaction between Vietnamese students as the slogan of this event: “Interaction – Healthy – Fair play– Inquiring”. Hope that it will become an annual event that attracts not only Vietnamese but also Taiwanese and international students.
