The First Step toward Close Collaboration between Sinotech and Indonesian Students in Dept. of Civil Eng NTU

Indonesian students at Dept. of Civil Eng. were very pleased for the visit from Sinotech Engineering Consultants, Ltd., one of the largest muli-disciplinary engineering consulting firms in Taiwan, on March 3^rd 2014. Sinotech was represented by Mr. Tu (Senior vice president), Mr. Liu (Deputy manager of Business and Contract DEPT), and Ms. Chang (Manager of Administration DEPT). They were warmly welcomed by the department chairman, Prof. Liang-Jeng Leu together with six Indonesian students currently studying in this department.

Sinotech Engineering Consultants was established 44 years ago in Taiwan and has been offering a wide range of engineering services ever since. In addition to Taiwan, Sinotech has also involved in many engineering projects in Asia, including Indonesia. For more than 40 years, many large-scale engineering projects in Indonesia financed by World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB) were engineered by the Sinotech Engineering Consultants.

The close and enduring partnership between the government of Indonesia and Sinotech has urged Sinotech Engineering Consultants to contribute more, especially related to the overall practice of engineering consultancy in Indonesia. This pioneering work is only made possible if Sinotech Engineering Consultants establish a branch office in Indonesia.

The purpose of visit from Sinotech is to firstly get acquainted with us, the Indonesian students in civil engineering department. Once we know each other, then a future communication and cooperation will be possible. In this visit, aside from expressing their belief in the quality of civil engineering program in NTU, they also took an initiative to welcome all engineering students, particularly Indonesian students to their company. Sinotech offered various possibilities such as: job opportunity, summer internship, scholarship, etc. Finally, after Q&A and photo session, Chairman Leu gave our guests a private tour to the civil engineering building.

Last, but not the least, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Sinotech Engineering Consultants for taking this proactive approach. We do hope that our collaboration would go well and bring benefit to all parties. We also would like to extend our thank to Chairman Leu for having facilitated this meeting.
